Computed Dental Radiography (CDR) is a dental technology breakthrough which allows us to utilize an electronic sensor instead of film. The sensor produces sharp and clear X-ray images that appear almost instantly on a computer monitor. X-ray images can be annotated with clinical comments and saved on disk for electronic transfer or long-term archival storage.
How is it done?
You will have a small sensor placed in your mouth. In just a few seconds, you will be able to see a high-quality picture on a computer monitor. In addition to being more comfortable and more accurate, the procedure is safer, as CDR requires only a fraction of the radiation that older systems require.
Key features of CDR
- 90% less radiation
- Precise millisecond timing
- Use of sensors with comfortable rounded edges, only 5mm thick
- Images more accurate than those produced from conventional X-ray film
- Images can be enlarged to 300 times their normal size, manipulated to correct contrast, and color-adjusted to reveal hidden problems
Laser Dentistry Procedures and Effects:
Having the ability to take digital x-rays is an enormous advantage not only for us as practitioners but for our patients as well. The radiation emitted is considered very minimal when compared to conventional
x-rays. In addition, the images recorded can be instantly displayed on a monitor in any of our operatories for quick diagnosis and reference.
